Teacher training

Process

When installing the RACHEL digital library in schools, a teacher training process is also carried out, where teachers are trained in:

  • The use of ICT and RACHEL in the teaching-learning process.
  • The development of soft skills.
  • New teaching methods or learning strategies.
  • Ka-Lite for learning math.

The Mundo Posible curriculum covers 12 hours of training, which can be face-to-face or virtual.

Another modality that Mundo Posible uses to carry out the teacher training process is through a MOOC that is integrated as a module of the RACHEL digital library. Teachers can take the course from their schools and at the end they can send the course completion report that is generated within the same platform to info@mundoposible.org. This gives them the right to receive the digital badges that certify the skills acquired.

The same MOOC is available online for teachers who have internet access: Go to MOOC Course

Use of ICT and RACHEL

In this module, teachers are trained in the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the teaching-learning process, they are also trained in the use of the RACHEL digital library, from connecting devices to the server, to navigating within modules or educational sites within RACHEL.

Soft Skills Development

In this module, teachers are trained in the importance of developing soft skills in the classroom. UNESCO has selected five of those skills that are the most relevant in the 21st century, so that students are prepared to face the challenges of today and of the near future.

New Teaching Methods

To harness the potential and great learning capacities of today's students, teachers are trained in new teaching methods including:

  • SOLE method (Self Organized Learning Environments).
  • Mental maps
  • Conceptual maps
  • Comparative tables
  • Learning Through Videos
  • Project Based Learning
  • The Spiral of Creative Thinking

All of these methods support the development of soft skills in students. Its effective and conscious application in the classroom will provide very significant results, helping students to develop the skills and abilities necessary to face the challenges of the 21st century, as well as making the learning experience very dynamic and fun.

Ka-Lite for Learning Mathematics

It is no secret to anyone that in Latin America the level of mathematical knowledge and skills of students is far below that of developed countries, thus this module focuses on the use of Ka-Lite in the teaching and learning of the Math. Ka-Lite is a lightweight version of Khan-Academy that contains hundreds of Math videos and exercises to support students to develop logic-math skills.
